Ben Chartrand

Owner and President

Ben Chartrand founded Inside & Out Roofing, Painting & Gutters in Denton in 2011 and has run it ever since. His family has lived in Denton for generations, and he cares about improving the community and his neighbors’ quality of life.

Ben is on site during projects rather than managing from an office, which is why customers name him personally in their reviews. You deal with the owner, not a salesperson who hands the job to a crew and disappears. He does the inspection, he meets the insurance adjuster, and he is the person you reach if something needs attention later on.

"Ben is very clear in the customers direction and oversees the job in person."

Co-Founder

Payton co-founded Inside & Out and handles the side of the business most homeowners feel without seeing — keeping projects coordinated, keeping people informed, and making sure questions get answered rather than queued.

Our Story

Inside & Out did not start because roofing looked like a profitable industry to get into.

Ben grew up doing the work. His uncle was a builder, and he spent time working alongside another contractor from their church. That is where he learned multiple trades — on site, doing them, with someone watching to make sure they were done properly rather than just quickly.

That background still shapes how the company runs. When we are selecting crews and trade partners, the conversation is about the actual work — how something gets installed, what the detail should look like, why one approach holds up and another does not. Not only price and availability.

It also means we know what we are asking people to do, and we can tell whether it has been done right. There is a difference between knowing how to sell a project and knowing how that project should be built. We think homeowners can feel that difference, even when they could not name it.

What we want is straightforward enough: for people to feel like they hired a knowledgeable neighbor who happens to understand construction properly, rather than a company that sent someone out.

Who Actually Does the Work on Your Home?

A contractor is only as good as the people who show up at your house, which is why we have been deliberate about who we work with and why those relationships have lasted.

Many of our crews and tradespeople have worked with us for years. They are people who take pride in the finish, who show up with a good attitude, and who understand that they are working on somebody’s home rather than a job number on a schedule. Several of them we would describe as family at this point.

The same is true of our suppliers and manufacturer representatives. Those relationships are not about logos. They are about having somebody to call when a job throws up something unusual and it needs to be solved correctly rather than approximately.

Credentials and Recognition

Everything below is verifiable, and we are happy to provide documentation on request.

We also carry insurance covering the work we do, and a certificate is available on request.

Exterior House Remodel

Owner-Led Service. Dedicated Project Oversight

You get the accountability of a locally owned company, where the owner is genuinely reachable and genuinely involved, without the project depending on one person being in one place at one time.

Behind that there are experienced project managers, established crews, office support, suppliers and manufacturer relationships, all of which mean the work keeps moving and questions get answered the same day.

Personal enough to care. Established enough to deliver.

What We Stand For

Our Vision

Transform your home or business into a place you enjoy and are proud to be

Our Mission

Create a culture of Leadership, Excellence, Honor in our local communities.

Our Core Values

Honor. Excellence. Relationship.

Customers Come First

Customers and their needs come first on all projects.

Our Team

Every Inside & Out project is carried out by our own crews, not subcontractors passing through. That is deliberate. It means the same people are accountable for the work from the first inspection through to the final walkthrough, and it is why our customers name individuals in their reviews rather than just the company. Ben oversees every project personally, and the crew you meet on day one is the crew that finishes the job.

We Are Trying to Earn the Relationship, Not Just the Job

We want to win the project in front of us. We would rather win the relationship behind it.

That means we would like to be the contractor you call in four years when something else needs doing, or when you just want an honest opinion on whether something is a problem yet. Not a company you used once and had to look up again.

In practice it is unglamorous. Listen to what you are actually trying to achieve rather than quoting the first thing mentioned. Explain the options, including the ones that cost us money. Communicate while the work is happening instead of going quiet. Pick up the phone afterwards.

You should not be handed between salespeople, and you should not feel like a job number. You should know who you are dealing with.

Where We Work

We work across four North Texas counties from our Denton office: Denton County, Collin County, Dallas County and Tarrant County. That includes Denton, Lewisville, Flower Mound, Highland Village, Argyle, Lantana, Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Allen, Carrollton, Coppell, Keller, Grapevine and the surrounding communities. Being based in Denton rather than traveling in matters most after a hailstorm, when out-of-town contractors arrive for a season and are gone before the warranty work is.

What Our Customers Say

4.9 Google rating · A+ Better Business Bureau rating

So grateful for Ben and his team's help on our recent conversion of an extra room into a bedroom. Their craftsmanship, attention to detail, and professionalism throughout the process is second-to-none. Ben made sure we were kept up-to-date throughout the entire process and worked to ensure timely completion. We are so thankful to know that we'll never need to look for another company for any painting, roofing, or other home improvement projects.

Being an owner of a service company myself, I know how challenging and competitive it can be to win over a customer. Its not about what you can deliver, its about how you deliver and delivering beyond your customers expectations. Inside & Out Roofing does both of those. Ben and his crew are professional, reliable, and confident in their ability to succeed in the work that they proclaim they can do. Ben is very clear in the customers direction and oversees the job in person. His crew is diligent in their work ethic and gets the job done, clean, crisp and like new.
